Economic Development, Building & Zoning Department

It was a conscious strategy to combine the City of Harrison Economic Development and Building & Zoning departments to ensure decisions regarding business and neighborhood growth are considered jointly. We understand that companies of all sizes and our citizens rely on one another for a healthy community.

Our community is one of the fastest growing in Ohio, and our department helps manage the commercial, industrial, and residential development. Harrison had a population of about 9,000 in 2010 and it is expected to be about 13,500 when the 2020 Census figures are released. That's a 50% increase in just 10 years.

Harrison’s growth has been fostered by our immediate access to I-74, which puts us 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and 30 minutes to CVG Airport. Our city has also been blessed with flat, developable ground, abundant utility availability, a magnificent school district, highly rated police and fire departments, and dynamic leadership from our City Council and Mayor Bill Neyer.

Our Economic Development Department supports local companies with technical assistance and access to financial programs including local tax abatements and other state and federal programs. The Building & Zoning Department assists companies and residential developers with the in-house permit application process, conducts its own plan reviews and performs building inspections. Our divisions working together ensures that our customer service is proactive and seamless.

Our department presents “boundless” opportunities for business expansions, relocation and quality of life. We invite you to meet our team in our Staff Directory.
