The City of Harrison installed 35 lamp post banners to honor active duty service members and veterans from the City and surrounding townships.
The banners were hung just before Fourth of July festivities and will remain on display until September throughout the historic downtown district. The City will offer the opportunity to feature service personnel again, with priority given to those who were not able to secure space this year.
Harrison resident Kathy Williams organized the program. Councilwoman Jean Wilson, an active volunteer with American Legion Yeager-Benson Post 199, arranged for the organization to underwrite some of the cost. Banners were purchased by families of those featured for $35.
