The City of Harrison is taking steps to improve pedestrian safety on West Road. The City has been examining the West Road overpass and commissioned a traffic study that counted both cars and people using the bridge. Now the City has secured grant funds to widen the bridge over I-74, add a sidewalk and install street lights.
The improvements, scheduled for 2022, will provide a safe connection for residents on one side of the highway to reach retail destinations on the other.
The cost of the project is estimated at $1 million and will be completely funded by a safety grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
