SCHOOL DISTRICT SHARES TRAFFIC INFORMATION

Southwest Local School District has provided the following information with regard to students returning to school in-person, starting Sept. 8, 2020, People who live, work or drive through the City of Harrison should be advised of these plans, which could impact their travel time. 


William Henry Harrison High School

• Doors open at 7 a.m., School starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m.

• Parents will drop off kids behind the school and at the Activity Center (AC) as normal

• Students will park both behind the school and at the AC as normal.

• Congested areas will be in front of the airport, in front of the school and AC; the four-way stop at Dry Fork and West Road will be highly congested between 7 to 8 a.m. West Road will be congested from the airport through Dry Fork during that time. Dry Fork will be highly congested from Hubert through Teters during this time .

• Officers Willig and Luetterbie will be assisting with traffic detail.

 

Junior School

• Doors open at 6:50 a.m. School starts at 7:25 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m.

• Parents may drop kids off starting at 6:50 a.m. Parent drop-off will be in AC lot (east side) for clearing (this is new this year). Parents will not be dropping off directly in front of the school.

• Bus drop will be in the back of the school, as normal.

• Mass congestion will be take place on West Road and Dry Fork (see notes for high school, above).

• Officer Willig and Luetterbie will assist in traffic detail.

 

Whitewater Valley Elementary

• Doors open at 8:40 a.m., school starts at 9:10 a.m. and ends 3:40 pm.

• Students arrive in three waves, by last name, in alternating time windows.

• Traffic congestion on Campbell Road between 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. and after school, from 3:10 to 4:15 p.m.

• Officer Luetterbie will be assisting with detail during these times.

 

Harrison Elementary School

• Doors open at 8:45 a.m., school starts at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m.

• Students arrive in three waves, by last name, in alternating time windows.

• Bus drop will take place on Elm Street, like last year. Elm street will be closed in that area between 8:45 to 9:10 a.m. and between 3:45 to 4:10 p.m.

• Parent drop-off will take place on Broadway; walkers and parent drop off will enter through the front doors and be cleared there. Bus riders will enter through side doors.

• Traffic duty on Elm street will be Carol Wiwi and Adam Lohbech or Sue Toelke

• Congestion will take place on Broadway and Elm during these times.
