Since opening Oct. 15, Harrison's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) has brought more customers into the City's historic downtown district.
Participating businesses have sold hundreds of cups, which are used by patrons to sip adult beverages as they stroll the main thoroughfare or enjoy outdoor seating.
Cups can be purchased for $1 at these participating businesses: 1860 Taproom & Bottleshop, Coffee Peddlar, Heist + Co., Market Street Grille and Harrison Moose Lodge 2633. The cups are washed and sanitized when used at each business, and can be taken home to use again. More food businesses and potential participants are expected to open in the coming year.
Businesses in The District worked with the City to plan the DORA and put in place requirements such as signs and designated cups. The State of Ohio approved the plans in September.
The DORA is expected to bring increased foot traffic to the area, supporting local businesses and jobs. DORA patrons must stay within the boundaries and observe other rules, including designated hours. Due to State of Ohio COVID-19 mandates, these are Harrison's DORA hours as of Nov. 3, 2020:
- Thursdays 5 to 10 p.m.
- Fridays 5 to 10 p.m.
- Saturdays noon to 10 p.m.
- Sundays noon to 9 p.m.
