In November 2020, Mayor Bill Neyer made the difficult decision to cancel the City's annual Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony due to a rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.
Mayor Neyer, along with City Councilman Ryan Grubbs and Councilwoman Jean Wilson, recorded the annual Christmas tree lighting with their sentiments for the people of Harrison.
"I'd like to thank everyone in the community--our employees, teachers, students and everyone in general--for the efforts they put forth this year to make everything work," said Mayor Neyer. "It's been a trying year but this is the time to celebrate."
"I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and very happy holidays," said Councilman Grubbs. "I look forward to a new year."
"I think we all have to reflect back how fortunate we still are that we still live in a great city," said Councilwoman Wilson. "As the year closes I'd like all of us to count our blessings and know that 2021 is probably going to be a great year for all of us."
