Southwest Local students went back to school Aug. 17 and for many, they entered brand new classrooms for the first time.
Harrison Junior School and three elementary schools, Crosby, Harrison and Miami Whitewater, are brand new buildings. The “Facilities for the Future” project has been years in the making. Throughout the process, parents, students, teachers and community members participating in the planning and design. The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission co-funded the project. "Our students are enjoying an educational environment like nothing this community has seen," said Southwest Local Schools Superintendent John Hamstra. "Our students benefit as they prepare to enter college, the military, or the workforce in the coming years."
Harrison High School is undergoing renovation. The school was
named by Newsweek Magazine as
one of America’s Top Public High
Schools for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
