HARRISON POLICE HIRE TWO; MACMURDO PROMOTED

The City of Harrison Police Department has welcomed two new officers and promoted a 14-year veteran of the Department. The employees were sworn-in by Harrison Mayor Bill Neyer at the October 4, 2022 City Council meeting. 

Chris MacMurdo was promoted to sergeant. He was hired in 2008 and promoted to detective corporal in 2018. He has been a certified Ohio Police Officer since 2001 and has also worked as a police officer for Arlington Heights. He is a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School and resides in Harrison with his family. 

Thomas P. Canada was hired as a police officer. Canada began his law enforcement career as a deputy for Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in 1989 and has been a certified Ohio Peace Officer since 1991. He is a graduate of Oak Hills High School and a longtime Harrison resident. 

Mark A. Wise was also hired as a police officer. Wise began his law enforcement career with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 and has been a certified Ohio Peace Officer since 2010.  He is a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School and resides in West Harrison, Indiana.

The Harrison Police Department preserves the peace, responds to law enforcement service requests and protects life and property within the City limits. The Department employs 24 sworn officers and two police clerks.  

All City positions are filled by candidates who have successfully completed the Civil Service exam.
