[ARCHIVED] ROAD REPAIRS PLANNED FOR 2023

Throughout the City of Harrison, repairs are planned to improve traffic and pedestrian safety in 2023.

Park Avenue Under Construction
A complete reconstruction of Park Avenue, from Jefferson to State streets, began in October 2022. The project includes replacing asphalt, curbs, sidewalks and storm sewers. This project is funded in part by the State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP) and final paving will take place in the spring.

Pedestrian Pathways Will be Improved
Sidewalks will be installed on the West Road overpass and a crosswalk will be installed at West Road and Harrison Avenue. A median will be installed on Harrison Avenue from Stone Drive between the UDF and McDonald’s. The projects are 100 percent funded by an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) safety grant and will be completed in 2023.

Harrison Avenue will be Partially Repaved
Following the safety improvements, Harrison Avenue will be repaved between New Haven Road and Stone Drive. More than $300,000 in grants have been secured to partially cover engineering and construction.

Access Improvement Planned for Industrial Intersection
A traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Campbell Road and Industrial Lane, near the JTM headquarters. Campbell Road will be widened to accommodate a right turn lane. Industrial Lane will be widened to accommodate both left and right turn lanes.  In addition to an $200,000 ODOT grant, the Economic Development Department secured a $500,000 Jobs Ohio 629 grant to finance much of the construction.

Engineering Underway for Dry Fork Interchange
The City is working with Hamilton County and Harrison Township to improve traffic flow at the Dry Fork Road and I-74 interchange.

The project is in the first stage of engineering design and the construction will occur in a few years. The first phase the Dry Fork Road Corridor Project will include widening the bridge and adding left turn lanes onto I-74. It would also include widening the westbound off-ramp. The estimated construction cost is $6.6 million, which will be funded primarily through grants from ODOT and other sources.

Future phases of the project include widening Dry Fork Road in both directions, increasing storage along the eastbound off-ramp and installing ramp meters for both eastbound and westbound I-74 ramps.

Three More Roads are on the Radar
The need for repairs on Dair Avenue, Circle Drive and Weathervane Lane have been recorded. In September 2022, the City applied for funding to repair these streets but the preliminary scores did not put the projects in the funding range. The City will appeal for the funding for Dair Avenue.

The City Streets Department maintains a master list of street repairs that are needed. Residents can report potholes and other concerns by calling (513) 202-8488. Projects are organized with a scoring system so the City can be effective in prioritizing repairs and sourcing funds.
